The ninth-ranked Sunrisers (SRH) produced an impressive all-round performance after being sent in to bat by the playoff-bound Royal Challengers (RCB), with an opening stand of 54 runs in 4 overs before the dismissal of Abishek Sharma.
However, this brought Man of the Match Ishan Kishan to the crease, who continued the onslaught despite wickets regularly falling around him.
The number three remained unbeaten on 94 runs from 48 balls at the end of the 20 overs, to ensure SRH reached a formidable total of 231/6.
In response, RCB openers Phil Salt and the legendary Virat Kohli started brightly in the Powerplay, with a swift 80-run partnership before Kohli fell for 43 runs off 25 balls at the end of Harsh Dubey's first over.
However, England's Salt suddenly accelerated the onslaught with the bat, smashing 62 runs from 32 balls before being dismissed by Australia skipper Pat Cummins who ended with impressive figures of 3/28.
Following a slow period with the bat, courtesy of tight bowling, particularly from Nitesh Reddy (1/13), a dramatic collapse ensued for RCB, who lost three wickets in five balls, leaving them reeling at 174/6.
Sunrisers then wrapped up the lower order for only 15 more runs, bowling them out with a ball to spare for 189.
"They played very well. I didn't have any answers for their attack,â said RCB captain Jitesh Sharma following the match.
"We were rusty. The intensity was not there initially."
With RCB playoff spot already secured and SRH already out of contention for the knockout round, the result has few implications for the table.
