CSA T20 Challenge: Boland make it four from four with crushing win over Titans

Boland continued their winning ways in the CSA T20 Challenge when they defeated the Titans by seven wickets in Paarl on Thursday evening.

Batting first, the Titans were pegged back by regular wickets and managed to post just 128/8 in their 20 overs. Boland were ruthless in their response, winning with 38 balls to spare, keeping their place at the top of the table.

Bolandâ™s Glenton Stuurman got rid of Titansâ™ openers Andile Phelukwayo (3) and Steve Stolk (0) in consecutive overs to have the visitors on the back foot at 11/2.

Josh Jordaan (39) and Keagan Lion-Cachet (22) were tasked with rebuilding and took the Titans to 57/2 at the halfway stage. But the Boland attack chipped in with wickets across the board. Stuurman would end with very tidy figures of 2/16 in his four overs as the Titans' innings ended with a whimper, losing five wickets in the last six overs.

The Titans had their tails up in the second innings. Dayyaan Galiem struck in the first over, sending Gavin Kaplan back to the pavilion. But Grant Roelofsen and Boland captain Clyde Fortuin put the hammer down to score 51 runs in 26 balls together. Roelofsen was chief destroyer, hitting three sixes in his 28 off 15.

Journeyman Roelof van der Merve dismissed Roelofsen and Fortuin picked up where his partner left off, smashing 50 before Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi clean bowled him.

But with the damage done, Lehan Botah and Aviwe Mgijima got Boland over the line with plenty of time to spare.
