The Tshwane side are currently in sixth place on the DStv Premiership log with eight matches to go, and are away to Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hunt dismissed any suggestions that their campaign is all but over.

"I think, if you look at the league, between sort of second and sixth or seventh, we've got our own little league going there, and we certainly were top of that league five games ago," said Hunt.

"So we've got behind the eight-ball a little bit there, but we've still got time to catch up there, I think. I do think so, if you look at the fixtures coming up.

"And I think there are a lot of teams who I don't think can play any better, and we can't play any worse, so I think we can improve from that perspective. But the proof is in the pudding, we've got to do it, which is another thing.

"The Nedbank Cup, and all the cups over the years from my time – the Mainstay Cup, you always try and keep going because it's the last game of the season."

On the cup tie at Stellenbosch, the SuperSport mentor adds that he’s not taking them lightly given their consistency and purple patch so far.

"We've had a tough draw this year; last year we had an easier draw and lost [chuckles], so we'll take it one step at a time and try and get through [to the semi-finals] on Saturday, and try and do the best we can, if we can keep it going [to the final]," he added.

"We're playing against very difficult opposition, who I think is certainly one of the form sides at the moment, there's no doubt about it."
