ZESCO coach targeting a win against Gaborone United in CAF WCL COSAFA Qualifiers

ZESCO Ndola Girls coach Florence Katya insists revenge is not on their minds in their last group stage clash against Gaborone United in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers.

ZESCO missed out on lifting the trophy in the 2025 edition of this tournament after losing to the Botswana side.

Speaking at the press conference, Katya says it is important for them to get maximum points in this clash.

"It's not about revenge. Last year's game was different and this is another competition. We will prepare accordingly and approach the game as it comes, because they aren't an easy side. We don't want to relax because we're qualified, we want to go all the way."

If the Zambians, who have already qualified for the semi-finals finish second in this group, they will face Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the final four stage.

A team they defeated in last year’s semi-finals.

The ZESCO tactician says their aim is to finish top of Group A.

"This is a tournament, you don't really get to choose who to play against so our focus is to just finish first in this group."

ZESCO won 1-0 against Lesotho Defense Force on Saturday and had two disallowed goals that were ruled offside.

Katya says they kept on encouraging the girls not to be discouraged because of the offsides, allowing them to secure a vital win.
