The Portuguese manager has signed a three-year deal and will take charge of his first match away at Everton on Monday evening.
The 51-year-old arrives in east London with a proven record in English football. Last season, he guided Nottingham Forest to seventh place in the Premier League, securing European qualification and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.
Nunoâs coaching career has also included success with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he earned promotion to the Premier League and oversaw a run into European competition, and with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, where he lifted silverware. As a player, he was a multiple league and cup winner with FC Porto.
Speaking after his appointment, Nuno said: "I am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United. My objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be. The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead."
The Sao Tome-born coach wasted no time, taking training at Rush Green on Saturday afternoon as preparations began for the trip to Goodison Park. He will be supported in the short term by Academy coaches Mark Robson, Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville and Billy Lepine, with further announcements on his permanent backroom staff to come.
West Ham have said they are delighted to welcome Nuno to London Stadium and have wished him every success in his new role in Claret and Blue.
