Aston Villa sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan from West Ham

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham on a season-long loan deal that includes a conditional obligation to buy.

The 28-year-old right-back becomes Unai Emery's sixth major signing of the transfer window and arrives after West Ham's relegation to the Championship. He missed the Hammers' opening two matches of the season while negotiations over his move were ongoing.

Wan-Bissaka will provide competition for Matty Cash and has also been brought in following Kosta Nedeljkovic's loan move to Rangers. Fulham had also shown interest in the former Manchester United defender.

The DR Congo international joined West Ham from United in 2024 on a seven-year contract and made 65 appearances during his two seasons in east London. He featured 25 times in the Premier League last season as West Ham were relegated.

Before moving to West Ham, Wan-Bissaka played 190 matches for the Red Devils, winning the League Cup in 2023 and FA Cup in 2024.

He also started all four of DR Congo's matches at the 2026 World Cup as they reached the round of 32.

Wan-Bissaka could make his Villa debut away to Brighton on Sunday, with the move also giving him the opportunity to play Champions League football after Emery's side finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa League last season.
