We are better than results suggest – Adnan Beganovic

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic insists his side’s recent Betway Premiership form does not reflect their true performances.

The Rockets return to league action tonight against Polokwane City at their adopted home, the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium — a venue that has quickly become a fortress.

Backed by passionate home support, Galaxy have gone unbeaten there and built momentum that has carried them into next month’s Nedbank Cup final.

Despite that progress, Beganovic believes his charges have been unfortunate in the league, pointing to a run of six defeats in their last seven matches, results that have left them outside the top eight.

"In the second round we struggled a little bit, we opened the second round by beating Marumo Gallants 2-0 at home and then we haven't been lucky in some games. We conceded last minute goals and then we lost some points and then you know, game by game and then with no reason you lose some games,” Beganovic said.

“When you are unlucky you lose some games. Then against AmaZulu we led two times then we conceded two goals in the last two minutes. I think it's unbelievable how we lost that game and also against Stellenbosch we led then we had an opportunity to score on an empty net and then we took just one point.

“Then I can count so many games when we had a chance to collect some points but you know, all the time we have some transition we involve some new players in our team and then you know sometimes new players need time especially young players to adapt."

Beganovic hopes their cup form can contribute to turning the tide in the league.

"Also, it can be triggering to expect positive action now because we thought that if we reach the final then we can put more focus on the league,” the coach added.

“Also, you know some confidence on our side, we believe in our structure, we believe in our philosophy and then I think it can be positive for us and then we can turn our away in the league and to collect more points in the last eight games that we have and then prepare ourselves for a special game in the final."
