The 40-year-old shot-stopper delivered a heroic display between the posts and was deservedly named Man of the Match after frustrating Spain's star-studded attack throughout the Group H encounter.
For the Blue Sharks, the result marked a historic first point at the expanded global showpiece being hosted across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking after the final whistle, Vozinha admitted the occasion felt surreal, with the veteran goalkeeper describing the result as one of the proudest moments of his career.
"I feel very proud because for me it's an honour to represent my country. We do this with passion and love. Our qualification was tough, but we knew if we continue to work and follow the plan of the coach, then we always have a great chance."
Vozinha was in tears at the end of the match and he explained that he was also thinking of his mother who could not be at the World Cup.
"I cried because I grew up with my grandparents, and unfortunately they are not here because they passed away a few years ago. They gave me everything in my life, and then my mom couldn't be here because of the money we had to pay for the visa."
Asked what he would tell his 18-year-old self, the keeper responded by implying that hard work pays off.
