The European governing body also confirmed a fine on Real Madrid for fan misconduct during their match against Arsenal in London.
Rudiger, Mbappe, and Ceballos were fined 40,000 euros, 30,000 euros, and 20,000 euros, respectively, for breaching UEFA's disciplinary code under Article 11.2.b, which addresses violations of "basic rules of decent conduct."
The sanctions stem from complaints by Atletico Madrid regarding provocative gestures made by the players at the end of the heated European derby. Rudiger was penalised for a hand-to-throat gesture, while Mbappé and Ceballos faced punishment for actions deemed inflammatory towards Atletico supporters.
In addition to the fines, Rudiger and Mbappe have been handed one-match suspensions in UEFA competitions, though these are suspended for a year and will only take effect if the players reoffend.
UEFA's ruling, issued on Monday, upheld the original decision made by their Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Committee on 4 April. "The appeal lodged by Real Madrid C.F. has been dismissed. Consequently, the Committee's decision is confirmed," UEFA stated.
Notably, no disciplinary action was taken against Vinicius Junior, despite rival fans highlighting his conduct during the same match.
Real Madrid also faced punishment for an incident during their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Arsenal on 8 April at the Emirates Stadium.
A Real Madrid supporter was reported for performing a Nazi salute, an act UEFA classified as racist behaviour under Article 14.2 of their disciplinary regulations. As a result, Real Madrid were fined 15,000 euros and banned from selling tickets to their fans for their next away match in UEFA competitions. This sanction, however, is also suspended for one year, pending no further violations.
UEFA's firm stance underscores their commitment to maintaining discipline and respect in European football, leaving Real Madrid to navigate the fallout as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
