TS Galaxy lifeline fuels Junior Zindoga cup final dream

TS Galaxy forward Junior Zindoga says he is relishing the chance to play in a cup final with the club that handed him a lifeline at the start of the season.

The Zimbabwean international revealed that chairman Tim Sukazi offered him a contract while he was still recovering from injury and unattached following his departure from Marumo Gallants.

Now back to full fitness, Zindoga has an opportunity to repay that faith when The Rockets take on Durban City in next month’s Nedbank Cup final.

"Honestly, I think it means a lot. Coming into the season, I started off injured but the support I got straight away from the Chairman, signing me while I was injured, and then the coaches and all the boys," reflected Zindoga.

"And then going into a season where you're fighting for the major domestic trophy in the country is something really big, and the emotions of a penalty shootout, a lottery – they score, we miss and then we miss, they score.

"But we were lucky to just get over the line, and last season I missed the semifinal against [Orlando] Pirates, so to play in this semifinal and make the final just means a lot."

Galaxy have been struggling for form in the league recently, collecting just one point from eight Betway Premiership matches, but Zindoga is clinging onto their cup run to see them through.

"I think we've obviously struggled in the league but we've somehow gathered some momentum in the cup, and to be honest, the league form isn't a true reflection just our performances in those games," he added.

"We played well but just been unlucky in some games, but we just want to carry that momentum into the final – it's anyone's game, and it's just about who shows up on the day, and that's what we're going to try and do.

"We have a few more games until the final and we'll obviously prepare, we've played Durban City twice now so it's a team that we know, and they know us, but we'll have something for them as well."
