Taariq Fielies says Cape Town Spurs must fight their own battles

AmaZulu FC defender Taariq Fielies does not feel sorry for Cape Town Spurs, who are close to relegation as his focus is on getting positive results for Usuthu.

The Western Cape side squares off with Richards Bay FC on Friday evening in a must-win clash.

They will also depend on other teams to beat their relegation rivals to at least finish 15th on the DStv Premiership log.

With Usuthu facing Natal Rich Boys next Tuesday, Fielies says they will not be doing any favors for his home side as they must fight their own battles.

"Yes, it's their problem I have to focus on my team. What they do has nothing to do with us, we are not gonna do anyone a favour we're just gonna focus on ourselves and win our game and finish higher up the table than where we are," Fielies said.

In the last two games, Usuthu coach Pablo Franco Martin felt let down by poor officiating in the Premier Soccer League.

As they host Chippa United on Saturday afternoon, Fielies says they do not stress about referees but focus on what they can control.

"That question you are gonna have to ask my coach but we just focus on what we have to do because there's a lot of things that are out of your control, the referees as well. We can just control what we can and the referees make their decisions based on what they see at the moment," he added.
