SuperSport United held by Marumo Gallants after missed penalty

Bradley Grobler missed a penalty as SuperSport United were held to a goalless draw by home side Marumo Gallants in the PSL clash at the Peter Mokaba stadium.

The result sees Matsatsantsa move back up to second in the table but the two points dropped means Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are breathing down their necks.

The visitors were awarded a penalty in the 81st minute when Olivier Toure handled in the Gallants box but Grobler booted the spot-kick high over the cross-bar.

The home team could have snatched the victory late but SuperSport goalkeeper Ricardo Goss pulled off a brilliant save to deny Letsie Koapeng in stoppage time.

The draw for Gallants sees them move two points away from the relegation places with the Limpopo outfit still having to play three more league matches.

With his team travelling to Egypt to face Pyramids in the CAF Confederations Cup, Gallants coach Raymond Mdaka should be happy with the stalemate.

SuperSport are in second place on 44 points, one point clear of Pirates, who have a game in hand, while Chiefs are a further two points behind.
