Sofyan Amrabat proud as Morocco achieve AFCON aims

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat said his side's aim was always to finish on top of their group.

The Atlas Lions finished top of Group F with a 3-0 defeat of Tanzania, 1-1 draw with DR Congo and 1-0 victory over Zambia.

They will face South Africa in the last 16 after Bafana ended second in Group E behind Mali.

Amrabat was named Man of the Match for his performance in the win over Zambia and says his side are proud to have achieved their aims.

Morocco ended the continental competition as one of the favourites and will be expected to see off their southern African opponents in the next round.

The Manchester United midfielder, who is currently on loan in Italy with Fiorentina, said on CAFOnline: "We wanted this first place. We are proud to have done it.

"It was a difficult match but we did the essentials. There is always room to improve before our next match."

Amrabat added: "We want to go as far as possible in this tournament and we will do our best to succeed."
