Siyanda Ndlovu told to impress Hugo Broos against SA big three

Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi has challenged attacker Siyanda Ndlovu to elevate his performances in high-stakes clashes against SA’s traditional big three if he wants to be on Hugo Broos’ radar.

Mngqithi says while Ndlovu has the talent to reach international level, he tends to fade in marquee fixtures against Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Arrows mentor believes these are precisely the matches that carry the most weight for Broos when evaluating potential Bafana Bafana call-ups.

"I don't think he would have a problem playing for Arrows and getting a call-up to the national team. I must also be honest because I have seen Hugo come to the stadium to look at him. I've seen him, and I don't want to be a bad person and create the impression that he's not getting a look," said Mngqithi

"But unfortunately for him, when he comes into these big matches, where he expects Ndlovu to perform as he is capable of, he hardly performs to the level that he does when Broos is not there."

"I must be honest; it then says he will only be selected from the games where Hugo comes to watch at the stadium, and I don't think he will be selected because against Sundowns, I don't think he played very well, and against Chiefs away from home, I don't think he played very well."

Mngqithi revealed he has already given Ndlovu, 23, the same feedback.

The Arrows coach is adamant Ndlovu ticks all the boxes for a Bafana asset and believes he has earned an opportunity for Broos to invite him over.

Ndlovu has missed Arrows’ five previous Betway Premiership fixtures due to a hamstring injury and the coach gave an update on his recovery.
