Shield rallies behind SAFA and Banyana Banyana as the official sponsor of 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Shield, the Unilever South Africa deodorant brand, announced their official sponsorship of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ that kicked off on Thursday, 20 July 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.

As part of Shield’s ongoing commitment to women in sport, and specifically Banyana Banyana, the brand has also proudly partnered with the South African Football Association (SAFA) for the next five years.

Earmarked as the biggest women’s sporting event in the world, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ is set to reach more than two billion people.

With an estimated 1.5 million attendees across the tournament’s 64 matches, the stage has been set, and all South Africans have the opportunity to rally behind our national heroines who have continued to demonstrate that they are #NotDoneYet by firstly being crowned the Champions of Africa in Morocco last year, and now showcasing their spirit of true resilience, determination, and what it looks like to break boundaries by taking on the world.

As the proud sponsors of SAFA and Banyana Banyana, a team who has shown time and again that they refuse to quit, Shield will stand behind them as they keep pushing their own limits, as well as the limits of the sport.

Even if the world says you’re done, Shield says you’re just warming up.

You are #NotDoneYet. When you hit a stumbling block, you find the confidence to dust yourself off.

You are #NotDoneYet. No matter who you are, what you have been told, or what stereotypes the world has tried to impose on you. You are #NotDoneYet.

“Whilst women's football has come a long way in the last decade, there’s still more to accomplish, and more progress to be made.

And it all starts with an attitude of believing that no matter where you started, or even where you are currently, you are #NotDoneYet,” says Tamryn Taylor, Southern Africa Deodorants Marketing Director.

“Shield believes in a world where everyone has the confidence to move however they want to despite the narrow limits that might hold them back.

Through the work we do and the products we create, we want to inspire confidence in all South Africans to stand up, show up, and write their own narrative. Just as Banyana Banyana has done time and again”.

Shield believes in the power of movement to transform lives. Everyone should be able to experience the incredible mental, physical, and social benefits movement brings – whoever you are, however you move.

The brand wants to create a world where everyone has the confidence to move more, regardless of body shape, gender, race, sexuality, or disability.

Shield’s superior efficacy gives people the confidence to try: to move in new ways, to overcome their limits.

And to keep on believing that they are #NotDoneYet.
