Salah savours historic World Cup and relishes date with Messi

Salah was speaking after capping yet another special man of the match performance, which lead Egypt to a historic last 16 qualification, with a 4-2 win on penalties against Australia in Dallas, US. 

He now looks ahead to an exciting fight for a quarter-final berth against the defending world champions...

"I'm excited to face Messi and Argentina. I always feel proud to wear the shirt, nothing can make me more proud than seeing the boys enjoy the moment and making history with them."

This has been the best performance by Egypt at the World Cup by far, and Salah, who is playing in his last World Cup, is proud of the work they have put in.

Salah has achieved almost everything that there is to achieve in football, except for winning titles with his country. 

He shares what it takes to continue being so successful at the highest level...

"I prepare mentally first, and I always try to enjoy the moment because it might not come back. We can't take this for granted because I don't know how many times Egypt has been in the World Cup, but never before have we qualified out of the group stage so we are going to enjoy this moment to the max and then start to focus on the next game."
