Richards Bay FC coach Kaitano Tembo concerned about his future, as struggle for points continues

Richards Bay FC coach Kaitano Tembo admits his job is under threat following a 3-1 loss against Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Natal Rich Boys are yet to win a home league game this season and are sitting on 15th in the log with six points.

Tembo says they need a little bit of luck.

"Obviously, when you don't win games, it's always worrying but at the same time I think for me what is important is to continue working very hard with the team because I feel that we can turn things around. We just need a little bit of luck as well because we are playing against teams that don't really create much but they score goals. With us, we have to create probably ten clear catch chances for us to be able to score a goal. So, it's always gonna be difficult. We just have to continue working hard," Tembo said.

It may still be early in the season, however, the debate around the league title race and relegation are already heating up.

Tembo says the longer you are at the bottom of the log table, the harder it affects them mentally.

"For us, it's different. The more you stay down there, the more it affects you mentally. So, we need to work hard and try and move away from there because if you are talking about winning the title, it's totally different for us where we are at the moment. For us we have to try and work a little bit more and try and turn things around," Tembo added.

Richards Bay FC are the only club in the DStv Premiership that has been playing all their games away from home [in Durban instead of Richards Bay].

Last week the chairman Sfiso Biyela speaking exclusively with SABC Sport, shared their struggles on not having a home stadium.

The coach has also echoed Biyela's words.

"Yeah, obviously, it's always good to have your own home. A place that you call home where you can be able to play in a certain way that you like. I think the chairman is also right when he speaks about traveling. Traveling takes a lot from us. Even for us to play a friendly game we have to travel to come here, which is about two hours and about two hours to go back. So, that takes a lot from the players as well in terms of fatigue but hopefully, we will be able to get our home ground sorted out."
