Richards Bay down Swallows to break seven-game winless run

Khuda Muyaba was the hero for Richards Bay as his 81st-minute goal helped snap a seven-game winless streak in the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows.

While the win still leaves the Natal Rich Boys stuck firmly in the relegation zone, eight points behind Royal AM in 14th place, it does give Vusumuzi Vilakazi's men some hope of turning their fortunes around.

As for Swallows, they stay in 13th place after leaving the King Zwelithini Stadium empty-handed.

Richards Bay's winning goal came nine minutes from time after an evenly-contested match that saw both teams struggle to effect regular openings.

It was an assist from Nkosikhona Ndaba that allowed Muyaba to deposit the ball in the back of the net and collect all three points for the home side.

Stellenbosch maintain unbeaten streak in draw with Sekhukhune United

Stellenbosch continued their impressive unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership, extending it to 14 games after playing out a goalless draw against Sekhukhune United.

Under the guidance of manager Steve Barker, Stellenbosch remains securely atop the league standings with a four-point lead over Babina Noko, who currently holds the second position.

In the encounter against Sekhukhune United, Stellenbosch initially faced pressure as Lehlohonolo Seema's side pushed forward aggressively in the opening stages.

However, despite the early challenges, the game lacked significant goal-scoring opportunities until the 24th minute when Jamie Webber tested Stellenbosch's goalkeeper Sage Stephens with a shot following a corner.

As the first half progressed, Stellenbosch gained momentum, with Anicet Oura and Iqraam Rayners creating chances. However, they couldn't find the back of the net.

The second half witnessed a more dynamic exchange of play, with both teams creating goal-scoring opportunities.

Stellenbosch's Badra Sangare made crucial saves to deny Sekhukhune United, while Linda Mntambo also threatened with a long-range effort for the visitors.

SuperSport's winless run continues in defeat to TS Galaxy

SuperSport United failed to make the most of their home-field advantage on Saturday night as they lost 1-0 to visitors TS Galaxy.

Mpho Mvelase's 52nd-minute strike was enough to secure all three points for the Rockets as they leapfrogged Matsatsantsa to take fifth position in the standings.

The defeat marked United's seventh consecutive league game without victory. Their last win came in December last year, when they were challenging near the top of the table.
