The club was launched only in May 2009, got promoted to Bundesliga 3 in the 2012/2013 season, then again to Bundesliga 2 in 2013/2014 and finally started playing in the top tier in 2016/17.
Leipzig have played in the UEFA Champions League eight times only missing out last season.
Speaking to the media in a round table discussion at the Leipzig Academy in Germany, Gulácsi says the club has developed a lot over the years.
"I've been here for almost eleven years and the journey with the club has been fantastic. When I signed here we had a vision of achieving promotion to the first Bundesliga to eventually play a role internationally as well. Everything happened a lot quicker than expected."
The 35-year-old has been with the club for 11 seasons and has 22 appearances in this campaign, keeping nine clean sheets.
He says it was a no brainer for him to join the club when they first approached him.
"I was very attracted by the project itself because for a city like this not to have first division football for such a long time and with Red Bull's achievements in the past in other clubs, it was always the perfect opportunity to come and play here, and I'm really proud to have been part of this long journey."
Amongst their massive signings this season, Leipzig also secured Côte d'Ivoire international Yan Diomande.
Gulácsi says they have been doing well in developing young players in the club.
In his conclusion, the Hungary international believes that it is essential for him to mentor young players in the club.
"With my experience and my personality, I always try to be a very positive person in the changing room. We have a lot of young players, and every young player will go through some difficult spells and of course I know how to deal with these situations."
