Positive signs from Golden Arrows after SuperSport United demolition job

Golden Arrows coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has praised his side for sticking to the game plan in a 3-0 DStv Premiership demolition job of SuperSport United, an outfit considered title challengers this season.

Abafana Bes’thende moved up to second on the table with goals from Lungelo Nguse, Angelo van Rooi and Ryan Moon securing them all three points in a sign of confidence from the KwaZulu-Natal team.

Vilakazi put it down to preparation.

"We knew it wasn't gonna be an easy one. I think SuperSport is always difficult but I think our planning was spot on today for the fact that we didn't even concede a goal. Also, we knew that we were gonna play a side that is very strong but I think the boys adapted very well and stuck to the plan," Vilakazi said.

With Arrows again scoring three goals on the back of beating Polokwane City 3-2 three days earlier, the coach wants to build on the potent attack.

"We were not only worried about SuperSport, we were also worried about us in terms of making sure that we are productive going forward. I must be happy as well about our finishing, we are becoming clinical now, with three goals last game, and three goals in this game as well. So, I think obviously it's work in progress but good signs are there," the coach explained.

Although it is early in the campaign, Vilakazi believes balancing a shrewd frontline with a defensive line that’s tough to break will go a long way in helping Arrows achieve targets set for the campaign.

"No, we are trying to do our level best in terms of making sure that our defensive structure is one of the best. Conceded two goals last game, I think one [the first goal] we deserved and then the second one we should have done better but as I've said, it's a work in progress.

We are trying to balance the two, we can't focus on our offensive play, we need to balance the two and also focus on our defensive structure. So, it's almost there, we'll keep on working up until we get it right."
