OFFICIAL: Pitso Mosimane's Al Wahda contract terminated

South Africa’s most successful football coach Pitso Mosimane has officially parted ways with United Arab Emirates Pro League side Al Wahda, after the two parties reached a contract termination agreement on Friday.

Mosimane, who joined Al Wahda in June, leaves along with his team of assistant coach Maahier Davids, conditioning coach Kabelo Rangoaga, and match performance analysts Kyle Solomons and Musi Matlaba.

The termination of Mosimane’s contract at Al Wahda doesn’t come as a surprise, following local reports that his exit at this UAE club was imminent.

Al Wahda, who are currently fifth on the log with 12 points and five points adrift of log leaders Al Wasl, are known to be trigger happy having not won any silverware since 2010.

The former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns head coach’s exit at the UAE club comes just after two back-to-back league wins, in which Davids sat on the bench in the absence of Mosimane, who was down with illness.

Allegations of interference in team selection and disagreements over the composition of the squad, in which the technical team played no hand in the signing of players, are also believed to be behind the 59-year-old's exit.

It remains unclear what the next move for the three-time African Champions League winning coach will be, with reports having linked him to Egyptian side Zamalek.

Mosimane’s agent Moira Tlhagale of MT Sports is also understood to currently be in the UAE, having gone to visit the coach after he was hospitalised.

Meanwhile, SABC Sport understands that remaining in the Gulf region is Mosimane’s first priority.
