It was Gabriela Moodaly-Salgado who opened the scoring for Banyana in the 12th minute, with Mthandi doubling the lead in the second half.
Mthandi says she’s very happy to have scored for the team.
"I'm so happy and privileged to score for Banyana Banyana. It started from the changing room, the spirit was great, and the goal is not only for me but also for my teammates."
Banyana have already secured their spot in the COSAFA semifinals after this match, having also secured a victory in their opening Group C game against Malawi.
The Sundowns player says listening to the coaches has really helped them in this tournament.
"We are very happy. Everything we do on the pitch starts in training where it is important for us to gel. The instructions from the coaches have helped us a lot, and I think going forward we are going to do well and achieve big things.
"We were told to play in the spaces, and to be patient and to rotate the ball so that we could execute in the spaces."
Another standout player in this tournament has been JVW youngster Bonolo Mokoma, who scored in their game against Malawi.
Mthandi says the young players in the team have been exceptional in both training and on the field of play and she believes they will do well in the game against Lesotho.
