More coaching changes looming at Sekhukhune
Following the dismissal of coach Kaitano Tembo earlier this month, Sekhukhune United are expected to announce more technical team changes.
SABC Sport has learnt that assistant coach Thabo Senong will be deployed as the clubs head of youth, while his colleague MacDonald Makhubedu also faces an uncertain future with sources close to club chairman Simon Malatji adamant that several changes will be confirmed by Babina Noko.
Its believed that former AmaZulu tactician Brandon Truter and Dan Malesela, who has just recently left Royal AM to reunite with Marumo Gallants, are the two leading candidates to replace Tembo in the coming days.
While the finer details arent yet been fully ironed out and a decision on who between the two will get the nod still to be confirmed, information gathered by the public broadcasters sport desk is that Senong will be demoted.
This suggests that the ex-Lesotho head coach isnt likely to form part of the backroom staff when the club makes the new appointment.
He arrived at Babina Noko in July 2021 following their promotion to the topflight to work alongside Makhubedu.
In their rookie season, Sekhukhune also roped in Owen Da Gama to establish a three-man technical team with fears that they were facing relegation, but the former Orlando Pirates coach resigned after just two months.
Tembo was brought in not long after hed also been sacked by SuperSport United at the tail end of the previous DStv Premiership campaign, and a lot was expected of him by Babina Noko given the busy transfer activity.
Sekhukhune are second from the bottom of the table and are eager to announce a new coach before the resumption of the league on 30 December, the recess being forced on the Premier Soccer League by the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
