The Brazilians ended their decade-long wait for continental glory after securing a 2-1 aggregate victory over the Moroccan side, with Mokoena producing a stunning equaliser at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Speaking after receiving the Man of the Match award, the Bafana Bafana midfielder said he had visualised the goal before kick-off and believes he manifested the moment on the biggest stage.
"You know, in my dreams I saw myself scoring a goal like that, and I've been saying to my family that I hope God is on our side tonight, and he was. I'm very grateful and happy, and I know how much this means for everyone back home."
Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams also rose to the occasion, conceding an early penalty before saving another to keep Sundowns in the contest for the title.
Williams later reflected on the emotions of the occasion.
"This team has been through so much, not only this season but over the last five or six years we have have knocked on the door every season, playing over sixty games and with all the non stop travelling - finally the door opened for us."
Williams also dedicated the trophy to the Sundowns hierarchy and the fans, with a few that travelled to witness yet another milestone.
