Michael Olise bags hat-trick as Bayern Munich run riot against Union Berlin

Bayern had already made an emphatic start before Olise began to take centre stage. Jamal Musiala opened the scoring with a fierce 20-yard effort, cutting inside onto his right foot before finding the far corner.

Harry Kane then converted from the penalty spot after Felix Uduokhai brought down Olise inside the area. The England captain's second strike arrived after the break, when he headed in an in-swinging delivery from Olise.

The brace also saw Kane reach 100 Bundesliga goals in only his 98th appearance, achieving the feat 31 matches faster than his nearest challenger and further strengthening his status as a Ballon d'Or favourite.

Olise had already threatened repeatedly, with Frederik Ronnow denying him on several occasions. The Frenchman eventually got his first goal with a precise long-range finish into the top corner before completing his treble with two second-half efforts, including a curling strike over the defence.

Ismael Saibari also marked his first Bayern goal since joining from PSV with an impressive solo finish after beating three defenders.

Union tried to respond, but Manuel Neuer remained alert, making a superb stop from Janik Haberer and punching a Tom Rothe header over the bar. Ronnow also kept the scoreline down with several outstanding saves.

"The boys were mentally ready for this game," said Kompany.

"We showed energy, moved the ball well and had a good reaction to the poor first half in Elversberg. We showed that weâ™re hungry and always want to show our best performance. It was a good performance."
