Max Eberl: Dayot Upamecano has not reached a contract agreement with Bayern Munich

Max Eberl has moved to play down speculation surrounding Dayot Upamecano's future at Bayern Munich, dismissing reports that an agreement has been reached over a new contract.

Last week, German outlet Bild claimed that Bayern and the French centre-back were largely in agreement on a contract extension, with negotiations said to be progressing positively.

However, speaking on Sunday, Eberl firmly denied those reports, stating that Upamecano has not accepted any proposal from the club.

Eberl, who serves as Bayern Munich's board member for sport, made it clear that discussions are ongoing but stressed that no deal has been finalised.

Upamecano's current contract is due to expire in June, a situation that has inevitably fuelled speculation about his next move.

"As long as Dayot hasn't given the green light, we can't say anything," Eberl told DAZN.

"What's being written about us, what people might have heard somewhere - it's all just suppositions. He hasn't agreed anything yet; everything is still on the table. Let's wait and see, step by step."

The 27-year-old has been linked with several European heavyweights, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, as uncertainty continues over his long-term future in Munich. His importance to Bayern has only heightened the scrutiny, given his role at the heart of the defence.

Upamecano joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021 and has since established himself as a key figure in the back line, combining physical presence with pace and composure on the ball. He has been a regular starter in major domestic and European fixtures, underlining his value to the squad.
