Marvin Senaya reflects on injury lay-off after competitive return for Auxerre

Auxerre defender Marvin Senaya admits it was a struggle to overcome an injury that had kept him sidelined since the 2026 World Cup.

The 25-year-old Ghana international right-back suffered a hamstring tear during Ghana Round of 32 clash with Colombia.

He subsequently underwent successfully surgery before finally making a return to competitive action in the 5-1 Ligue 1 defeat to Strasbourg on Sunday.

Senaya was introduced in the 63rd minute as a replacement for Congo's Christ Makosso.

Reflecting on his time on the sidelines, Senaya admitted that it was his faith that saw him through a difficult period in his career.

He posted online: "It's been a unique journey. Months of struggle, patience, and self-doubt. And fate has brought me back to the pitch at Meinau, where part of my story began.

"A tough afternoon for everyone, but a significant step for me personally. My faith never wavered, even in the darkest moments. Only God knows how far I've come. Grateful to be back."

Auxerre are next in action against Paris FC at the weekend.
