Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts fire PSG to Ligue 1 summit

Paris Saint-Germain moved to the top of Ligue 1 after second-half goals from substitutes Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts secured a 2-0 victory over Lyon at the Parc des Princes.

PSG dominated the opening stages despite missing several key players through injury. Desire Doue and Fabian Ruiz threatened early, while Dominik Greif denied Ferran Torres with an impressive save to keep Lyon in the contest.

However, Lyon also created opportunities. Julien Duranville came close to opening the scoring before Matvey Safonov produced an excellent save to turn his close-range effort over the crossbar. Zachary Athekame also threatened as the visitors grew in confidence.

PSG increased the pressure after the break, with Joao Neves firing over from inside the penalty area. Lyon remained dangerous, but Safonov again came to the hosts' rescue by making a fine save to keep out Moussa Niakhate's header.

With the match still goalless, PSG coach Luis Enrique turned to his substitutes, introducing Lucas Hernandez, Godts and Mayulu in search of a breakthrough.

The changes paid off as Mayulu opened the scoring with a superb finish. Receiving a pass from Godts on the edge of the penalty area, the midfielder struck powerfully into the bottom corner to register his first goal of the season.

Godts then made sure of the points with six minutes remaining. Quentin Ndjantou's long pass picked out the forward, who cut inside a defender before curling an excellent finish beyond Greif to score his first goal for PSG.

The victory lifted PSG to the top of Ligue 1 and continued their impressive run of form. Lyon, meanwhile, suffered their third consecutive away defeat for the first time since May 2025, leaving Paulo Fonseca with plenty to address on the road.
