The home team opened the scoring through debutant Khanyisa Mayo five minutes before the break, while Gaston Sirino saw his penalty saved by Washington Arubi just minutes later.
Gallants then equalised as Jaisen Clifford fired a stunner past Brandon Peterson in the second half, and Lafitte explained how he motivated his players at half-time to come back into the game.
"I said to the guys in the changing room at half-time that God is with you. We started the second half with greater motivation and belief."
Lafitte bemoaned the heavy schedule his team is facing, and expressed frustration with the lack of maximum points in the games they’ve played recently.
He made it clear that his ambition is to compete with the championship-chasing teams in the league.
"I'm happy with the outcome of this match, but I'm frustrated with the schedule because we have played three matches in one week, but it is important to remain positive and to collect points.
"I am a winner, and I am here to improve the team and help the team compete against the best in this country."
This was Marumo’s fourth draw in as many matches played, and they last tasted victory on August 12 against Orlando Pirates.
Lafitte didn’t seem bothered by the statistic after the game, and stressed that they just need to patch the leak at the back to get back on track.
Their next game is the Mangaung derby against Siwelele FC on Sunday, and the importance of winning is not lost on the Frenchman.
