Marumo Gallants boss: Ranga Chivaviro, Katlego Otladisa and Lesiba Nku needed to grow

Despite leaving Marumo Gallants without high profile players, chairman Abram Sello says selling Ranga Chivaviro, Katlego Otladisa and Lesiba Nku to the traditional big three clubs was about growth.

The trio joined Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively, shortly after Gallants were relegated from the DStv Premiership.

Sello argues holding them back would have been unfair.

"It's not about force, it's about developing football and encouraging our youth to deliver their skills and career. It doesn't help me to block them. Their growth is my growth and it forms part of that linkage with Marumo Gallants," Sello said.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa also lost the services of midfielder Phillip Ndlondlo to Pirates at the start of the campaign in which they eventually dropped down to the second tier.

Sello admits staying at Gallants wouldn’t have enhanced their careers further.

"You sit down with a player, he tells you, his desires. At the end of the day, you have to come to the middle of the road to say 'What about this child? Am I delaying his career?" Sello added.

"Look at Chivaviro, he's 30something. Delaying him more now you are killing his career. Look at Ndlondlo and Otladisa, they are young. They have to grow with the standard of football which they admire.

So, it's not about force or whatever. As a parent you want to see your sons growing but where must they grow? At the relevant places. So, we had to do that."
