Manuel Neuer won't rush into a decision over Bayern Munich future

Manuel Neuer's future is one of the key issues Bayern Munich must resolve as the January break comes to an end and attention turns to the second half of the Bundesliga season.

The veteran goalkeeper's current contract expires this off-season, but the club captain has insisted he is in no rush to make a decision, preferring to take his time before committing to what would likely be a one-year extension.

Neuer's choice will depend heavily on his health and fitness, as well as his performances over the remainder of the campaign. His own feelings about whether to continue playing at the highest level will also play a decisive role.

Bayern have already taken steps with an eye on the future by signing Jonas Urbig from FC Koln last winter, with the young goalkeeper viewed internally as a long-term successor.

Daniel Peretz has not yet established himself at the club, while Sven Ulreich missed much of last season due to personal matters.

Off the pitch, Bayern players and staff took part in the club's annual fan visits this weekend, marking a traditional moment as the winter break draws to a close.

The Rekordmeister are preparing to resume their Bundesliga title defence with the January transfer window still open.

However, Bayern's front office has repeatedly cautioned supporters not to expect significant transfer activity. Sporting director Christoph Freund has said the club hierarchy is satisfied with the current squad.

"I'm positive about the whole thing," said Neuer. "But I want to wait and see how things develop over the next few months... I'll make a final decision at the end of March or beginning of April."
