Man Utd star Bryan Mbeumo reflects on 'dream' first season at Old Trafford

The Cameroon international arrived at United following a standout campaign in which he scored 20 goals for Brentford and attracted interest from several Premier League clubs. However, Mbeumo revealed his focus was always on a move to United, a decision he says he does not regret.

Speaking ahead of United's last home match of the 2025/26 season against Nottingham Forest, he said the progress made under the club's coaching staff has strengthened his belief.

"Of course, it's just like a good answer for my choice," Mbeumo said. "I always trust the process, trust my team-mates, trust all the staff who brought me here, from Michael Carrick. I'm really happy for what we have achieved and we just can't wait to go again."

Mbeumo also highlighted how quickly he settled at United, crediting the supporters for helping him feel at home from the start.

"Being accepted by the fans is something you always want," he said. "They are always behind us. They never stop cheering us. So being accepted by them is great for me."

On the pitch, Mbeumo has already made an impact, picking up two Player of the Month awards and playing a key role in United securing UEFA Champions League qualification. He also pointed to his favourite goal so far - a rapid strike at Anfield against Liverpool - not for its quality alone, but for its significance.

He also praised team moments, including a Bruno Fernandes free-kick against Bournemouth and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu's powerful strike at Arsenal. Mbeumo even recalled a standout save from Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Manchester derby, when a volley he struck looked destined for the net.

"I thought it was going in," he said. "It was a big, big save."

Looking ahead, Mbeumo believes finishing strongly remains important, with United targeting a top-three Premier League finish.

"To finish in the top three would be a really big message and a really big performance from everyone," he said.

Manchester United host Nottingham Forest in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday.
