Kodisang recently returned to South Africa after his loan spell at Portuguese side AVS Futebol SAD was cut short, forcing the 24-year-old back to his parent club.
With limited opportunities at Sundowns, a move away is now being explored to secure regular game time elsewhere.
The proposed switch would see Kodisang reunite with Gavin Hunt, a coach who knows him well having handed the player his topflight debut several years ago at Bidvest Wits and played a pivotal role in his early development, identifying him as a long-term prospect at a young age.
Kodisang has since built a varied career path, including overseas stints and a place in South Africa’s 2021 Olympic squad under then coach David Notoane while campaigning abroad at Braga SC.
He joined Sundowns two seasons ago on a five-year deal but struggled to break into a star-studded squad, prompting the recent loan move to Portugal.
That spell, however, ended prematurely, and with the winger not featuring for Sundowns this season, the club began exploring alternative options.
It is understood that Kodisang is not part of head coach Miguel Cardoso’s immediate plans, further accelerating talks with Stellenbosch.
A move to the Winelands could offer Kodisang a chance to revive his career and potentially earn a permanent switch, with Hunt having recently taken over at Stellies following Steve Barker’s departure to Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
The public broadcaster understands negotiations between Sundowns and Stellenbosch are at an advanced stage, with both clubs optimistic of concluding a loan agreement before the close of the window.
