Kelechi Iheanacho responds to Bursaspor speculation after making history in Turkey

Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho has refused to be drawn into speculation about his future at Bursaspor, insisting that his focus remains on the present after making history in Turkish football.

he Super Eagles star continued his remarkable scoring form during Monday's 2-0 victory over Pendikspor, finding the net in the second half to take his tally to 15 goals and extend his scoring streak to 11 consecutive matches.

Iheanacho's latest strike saw him set two records, further cementing his place in Bursaspor's history while making his mark on Turkish football.

The former Celtic forward became the first Bursaspor player to score in nine consecutive matches, surpassing Brazilian striker Fernandao's eight-match streak during the 2014-15 season.

He also became the first player to score in 10 consecutive league matches, surpassing Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay, who scored in nine successive matches during the 1962-63 campaign, and former Turkey international Saffet Sancaklı, who achieved the same feat in 1995-96.

His outstanding performances have fuelled speculation about his future ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window, but Iheanacho is reluctant to look beyond his current commitments.

"I am not going to say anything about the future until we can to the future," Iheanacho said, according to Spor Bursa, as reported by All Nigeria Soccer.

"Right now, we are living in the moment, so we have to enjoy the moment now that we are living in it and make the most out of it and continue playing, winning, being at the top of the table, and scoring goals."

The striker also expressed his delight at entering the record books, admitting that he was unaware of the achievement until it was brought to his attention.

"Before the game last week, I didn't even know about the record before I was told. I am now in the record book and I am happy to achieve that in Turkey, it is not easy."

"It was a tough game but I am now in the record book, so I am happy and proud to be in the record book and hopefully there will be more goals to come from me and the team," he said.

With his future still uncertain, Iheanacho will look to maintain his prolific form as Bursaspor pursue promotion back to the Turkish Super Lig.
