Chiefs, who are currently sixth on the log and 17 points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates and second placed Mamelodi Sundowns, with two games in hand, have a mammoth task to match these two.
Last week, Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr set the technical team a mandate and clearly Kaze sees things differently...
"I would say that on my part, we believe that to finish in the top three would be an amazing achievement, but to finish in the top two would be a miracle. We working everyday to finish as high on the table as we can."
The last time Chiefs finished second in the league was six years ago during the time of Covid, when Ernst Middendorp’s side lost the league title race in the last 20 minutes of the season.
With the club’s supporters calling for the coaching duo of Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef to leave, the Burundian born coach took the media through some stats, which proved that they have been a strong offensively, and creating chances, but lacking with a poor conversion rate.
He also says the fans have been inconsistent with their expectations...
"That's why we work with you to get the message along to the fans. A football team is not built in one night, it's a process, and I'm not saying we're starting the process now - it started a few years ago.
"Kaizer Chiefs is a big club but we need to understand expectations. I feel like sometimes the expectations change day to day. We win three games and they talk about winning the PSL, when we lose one or two games they are calling to fire the coaches."
Kaze says according to the stats that he’s presented, the team has been in a constant state of progression since the beginning of the season, and he doesn’t see the need to press panic buttons.
He also talks about the drop in their defensive standards and agendas around them.
"Since January, two factors explain the drop in our defensive solidity. It is a lot of injuries and suspensions. There are also people with different agendas who are of the belief that the coaches don't deserve to be there and that the boat is bigger than the captain leading it, but I've shown you the stats of the team and I believe they have been in constant progression since the beginning of the season, so are you going to start running and panicking because of one month of bad performances?"
