Chiefs find themselves in position nine of the log heading into their final game of the season against Polokwane City this weekend, and are in desperate need of a win to avoid the ignominy of finishing outside the top eight for the second season in a row.
Dove says although they have failed to deliver, they now have to focus on the future and continue to fight.
"This is one of the biggest teams in Africa and when you come here, you come here to win titles not to build or not find yourself in positions where we find ourselves now. So, from my particular opinion I think at some point we have failed the club because we failed to deliver but that's why we're given chances to fight each and every opportunity we have,” Dove said.
“At this point in time we can't dwell on the past, we have to look forward and see what's ahead of us. Yes, obviously we could have had a better season, we could have done better, that is the sentiment amongst the group but I think now we just wanna focus on what we can do at the moment and that's qualifying for the top 8."
Chiefs are not the only team vying for a top eight finish, with Rise and Shine themselves still not home and dry yet.
Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay FC are the other sides that they have to worry about going into the closing weekend, but a win for Nasreddine Nabi’s men should be enough to see them through.
"I think we can only control what we can, whatever we can't, we leave it in God's hands. I think the most important thing is focusing on ourselves and we'll do the counting at the end,” he added.
“All we want is making sure that, come Saturday, we're ready and we get a positive result out of the game but other games, I don't think it's in our hands to focus on what they do or don't do."
