Jose Peseiro slams "tough, difficult trip" as Nigeria held by Zimbabwe

Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro says his side struggled in their World Cup qualifier with Zimbabwe due to travelling fatigue.

The Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw with the Warriors at the Huye Stadium in Rwanda on Sunday.

Walter Musona opened the scoring for the hosts on 26 minutes ahead of a 67th equaliser from Kelechi Iheanacho.

The result left Nigeria in second place in Group C on two points from two games, behind South Africa on three points from one game.

Reflecting on the game, Peseiron said on Pulse Sport: "It was a tough, difficult trip from Nigeria in the flight, many hours, the players didn't rest enough for quick play at the same level."

Prior to this game, Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw with Lesotho.

Midfielder Alex Iwobi added: "He's (Peseiro) already said the travel was a lot for us, after the game (against Lesotho) we had to fly four hours then another three-hour coach down here which wasn™t easy.

"But as a player, we shouldn't use that as an excuse, we're professional enough and we have lots of quality in the side."
