Alex Iwobi sends message after Fulham end winless Premier League run

Nigerian international Alex Iwobi believes Fulham can build momentum after ending their winless start to the Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Super Eagles midfielder scored the decisive goal in the 33rd minute to secure Fulham's first league win of the campaign, bringing an end to a difficult run of four defeats and two draws.

The result lifted Fulham to five points and provided a timely boost for manager Álvaro Arbeloa, who had come under scrutiny following the club's disappointing start to the season.

Speaking to Fulham TV after the match, Iwobi admitted the victory had been a long time coming, insisting the team's performances had not always reflected their results.

"The win was a long time coming," Iwobi said.

The midfielder believes Fulham must now build on the result and carry the confidence gained into their upcoming fixtures.

He also acknowledged that the team could have been more clinical in front of goal, despite creating several opportunities against Hull. Fulham registered 10 shots in the first half alone, highlighting their attacking threat.

Iwobi maintained that continued chances should eventually translate into more goals, while stressing the importance of maintaining defensive discipline.

The clean sheet was another positive for Fulham, who had to withstand late pressure after Ryan Sessegnon was sent off in stoppage time, forcing them to finish the match with 10 men.

Iwobi believes defensive solidity will be crucial if the team are to turn their first victory into a sustained improvement in results.

Although one win does not guarantee a change in fortunes, the three points offer Fulham renewed confidence as they look to climb the Premier League standings.

Fulham will now turn their attention to their next league assignment against Coventry City on Saturday.
