Jayden Adams issues rallying cry amid busy Sundowns schedule

The Brazilians secured their spot in the CAF Champions League final at the weekend, overcoming Esperance 2-0 on aggregate to book a date with Morocco’s AS FAR next month but are still playing catch up in the Betway Premiership. 

Ahead of Wednesday night’s encounter with Stellenbosch FC at Loftus Versfeld, Adams first reflected on the club's African triumph. 

"I think it's a nice achievement for us as a team and it's great for me as a player to go to the Champions League final. Last year we got there but we didn't go full out, but this time around we will dig deeper."

Stellies are coming off a morale boosting 3-1 victory over Sekhukhune United and pose a threat to Sundowns, but their former player says it is important is to pay attention to what the reigning champions have to do.

"For us, it's just a matter of we need to keep going, keep on winning, and focus on ourselves while we take it game by game."

Adams added that Stellies are likely going to try and put pressure instead of coming to Loftus with a defensive approach. 

Sundowns attracted a sold-out crowd against Esperance and while those numbers will not be the same midweek, Adams still expects the fans to push the team during this busy period in April and May.

"I think I just want to say thank you to them for being the twelfth man on the field, and I hope they arrive in their numbers to support us against Stellenbosch."
