The Brazilians are sitting pretty at the top of the standings, and are firm favourites to become league champions for a record eighth season in a row.
The razor-sharp Rayners admits that the league leaders have cultivated a happy and confident mood within their camp.
“I think the mood has always been good between the players, the coaches, the technical team, and other staff members. We’re in a really good space to finish off the season,” said the Sundowns striker.
Mamelodi Sundowns' last meeting with ‘The Chili Boys’ ended in a 2-0 triumph for Masandawana, but Iqraam Rayners expects a tough test tomorrow night at Loftus Versveld.
“It’s always difficult to play against the teams much below us on the log because they are fighting to get into the top eight, and they are willing to fight for their lives, and make it really difficult for a team like Sundowns.
“For us, it’s important to get the points and to focus on the next game,” said Rayners.
Chippa United haven’t won any of their last four matches in the Betway Premiership, so Iqraam Rayners expects them to be highly motivated when they collide with Sundowns.
“I know Chippa United have a lot of quality players, quality players that will look to cause danger against us.”
When asked if he thinks Mamelodi Sundowns have wrapped up the league title, Iqraam Rayners believes the secret lies in just taking it game by game.
