Hurzeler blasts Brighton's lazy display despite Getafe win

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has criticised his team's lack of intensity despite seeing them secure a valuable 1-0 victory over Getafe in the Conference League.

Malick Yalcouye scored the decisive goal in the 64th minute, heading home in the second half to get Brighton back to winning ways in Europe.

Hurzeler admitted his side had struggled to break down Getafe's defensive approach but was pleased they found a way to secure all three points.

"It was what we expected," Hurzeler told TNT Sports. "The games in the Conference League are different; you have to beat the low block and you have to be patient.

"We didn't play our best game; we had moments where we were lazy. But we kept a clean sheet and scored a goal. We deserved to win this game."

The Brighton boss also praised his players for finding a solution despite falling short of their usual standards.

"It is always important to find solutions. I have to give praise to my team," he added.

"My players did it today, not at the highest level, but we had to win it."

Brighton will now turn their attention to the Premier League, where they host Brentford at the American Express Stadium on Sunday.
