The Bundesliga team worked with Hotspurs FC, Belhar FC as well as Durbanville FC.
The team, alongside club legend, Jörg Conrad, are not new to South African development, having worked with academies in Johannesburg as well as Durban.
Speaking to SABC Sport, head of Internationalization at Mainz 05 Julian Revers says these initiatives are crucial to introduce the club to South Africans.
"The activation held today in Langa was a resounding success. At the heart of these activities were exciting coaching clinics for kids and women and girls where young athletes had a unique opportunity to experience the Mainz 05 way of practicing," Revers said.
"Energetic, inclusive but still the focused approach is football. The children not only improved their game but also got to enjoy playing football together, making new friends, learning teamwork work and also feeling the joy that sports brings."
The Bundesliga in South Africa works directly with the SABC to not only bring live games on television but their clubs, namely Mainz, have been intentional about investing in developing football in the country.
Revers says the club is more focused on building sustainable relationships in grassroots football in the country and also improving coaching education in development.
"Over the next three years, Mainz 05 is definitely committed in deepening our partnerships in South Africa through sustained engagement but also structured training programmes and ongoing coach education," he added.
"We envision an approach that includes recurring coaching clinics, exchange opportunities for local coaches but also youth players and the development of community-based football that reflects our methodology and values."
