Speaking to SABC Sport this week, the club owner acknowledged once again that their business model was indeed to find hidden gems and move them on to their more well-off rivals in the Betway Premiership.
Galaxy’s most recent transfer was a record for the club with defender Samukele Kabini joining Norwegian outfit Molde FK for a reported fee of around R15-million during the January window.
Sukazi believes the only way to survive is to use the funds wisely.
"I have self-proclaimed that it's something to talk about and it's attested to the fact that our model requires us to dispose of our best assets in order to reinforce. So, people only listen to one part, that we sell, they ignore and neglect to listen to the other part that at the same time we are reinforcing,” Sukazi said.
“So, what bears testimony to that is that despite all the sales, three seasons ago we sold about seven players starting 11, coming out from position five, we ended up in sixth position.
“So, this season again I think we've sold about five top players and then we find ourselves, probably we'll finish at our highest, you know, best position if we end up in position five. So, it means that it's a two-way approach, so it's a two way approach.
“One, yes, we do dispose but the reinforcement part is also key. So, we are building, we are not destroying. Had we not been building, I'm sure we would have been languishing somewhere there at the very bottom of the log."
Galaxy are still in line to finish in fifth place if results elsewhere go their way in the remaining weeks and Sukazi insists they’ve proved this approach works after losing the core of their squad two seasons in a row.
"It's not an easy league and I can say challenge any club, ask them to sell four or three of their starting 11 and see how they cope, they won't. Tell Sundowns to sell seven of their starting 11 and see if they will be the same side, you know,” he added.
“So, we managed to still maintain and be better than we were with those players that we had disposed of each year. So, this season, if there are approaches, we will always consider, we'll look at it but the purpose is a dual purpose, while we do that, we want to also have a strong team and a very highly competitive side. Do we have it? Yes, we do."
