The England international joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2024 and quickly became a fan favourite.
Across 48 appearances in all competitions, he scored three goals and provided one assist, adapting seamlessly to the tactical demands of managers Thomas Tuchel and Vincent Kompany.
"I had a fantastic relationship with them and with Kompany. He was the best manager that I worked under. We just couldn't find an agreement that worked for everyone and it finished very amicably and respectfully," said Dier.
Dier was particularly favoured under Tuchel, thriving in multiple systems and helping the team reclaim the Bundesliga title in 2023/24 - also marking Harry Kane's first club silverware.
Despite Bayern improving, Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso still clinched the league comfortably.
Initially intending to stay for the 2025/26 season, Dier's departure was influenced by Bayern's financial constraints following large contract extensions for Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, and Alphonso Davies.
The club had hoped to extend his loan, but no suitable package could be agreed, especially after Florian Wirtz opted for Liverpool over a Bayern move.
