DFB-Pokal Cup: Bayern cruise through as Leverkusen rally and Stuttgart strike late

Bayern Munich cruised to a 6-1 victory over Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal, while Bayer Leverkusen recovered from two goals down to beat Nurnberg 5-2 and Stuttgart needed a late Deniz Undav strike to defeat 10-man Paderborn 1-0.

Freiburg also produced a late comeback against Wolfsburg as several German clubs secured their places in the next round.

Bayern celebrate Kane with six-goal Magdeburg rout

Bayern Munich marked Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or triumph with a convincing 6-1 win over second-tier Magdeburg at the Allianz Arena, despite leaving the England striker on the bench throughout the match.

Kane received a guard of honour from his teammates before kick-off, with 75,000 supporters celebrating his achievement. Michael Olise scored twice, while Ismael Saibari, Alphonso Davies, Nathaniel Brown and teenager David Santos Daiber also found the net. Magdeburg briefly threatened an upset when Mateusz Zukowski equalised after Olise's opener, but Saibari restored Bayern's lead before half-time.

Olise converted a penalty early in the second half, with Lennart Karl setting up goals for Davies and Brown before Santos Daiber completed the scoring in stoppage time. Coach Vincent Kompany was also discharged from hospital five days after collapsing during training, with Bayern now turning their attention to Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Leverkusen rally from two goals down to beat Nurnberg

Bayer Leverkusen showed their attacking quality by recovering from a two-goal deficit to secure a 5-2 victory over Nurnberg.

Defender Edmond Tapsoba scored twice to help turn the contest around, while Patrik Schick, Jonas Hofmann and Lucas Vazquez also got on the scoresheet as Leverkusen avoided a major cup upset.

Undav strikes late to send Stuttgart through

Stuttgart needed patience to overcome Paderborn, with Undav scoring in the 90th minute to seal a 1-0 win against the 10-man hosts.

Paderborn were reduced to 10 players when Laurin Curda was sent off in the 37th minute, but Stuttgart struggled to break through despite creating chances. Striker Ermedin Demirovic had two efforts saved before Undav converted a Chris Fuehrich cross to settle the tie.

"The win is what matters most," Undav said. "I honestly don't care whether I'm the one who scores, and that's the truth. We won, we're through to the next round - on we go."

Freiburg fight back to eliminate Wolfsburg

Freiburg came from behind to beat Wolfsburg 3-2, with Japan forward Keisuke Goto scoring twice in the final 15 minutes to complete the comeback.

Igor Matanovic opened the scoring for Freiburg, while Kento Shiogai struck twice for Wolfsburg's opponents' Japanese contingent to help set up a dramatic finish. Goto then took centre stage late on, scoring twice to ensure Freiburg progressed.

Dresden and Hertha advance as Kaiserslautern progress

Second-division sides Dynamo Dresden and Hertha Berlin both secured 2-0 victories, defeating Schalke and Jeddeloh respectively to advance in the competition.

Kaiserslautern also progressed after eliminating Hannover 2-0, adding to a busy night of DFB-Pokal action as the battle for a place in the next round continued.
