Dani Olmo doubtful for El Clasico as Barcelona give injury update

Barcelona confirmed the injury on Monday following medical tests conducted after the 27-year-old withdrew from international duty with Spain last week. The club did not specify a recovery timeline, stating only that his return will depend on the progress of his rehabilitation.

However, sources close to the situation told multiple outlets that Olmo is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. If confirmed, he would miss Barca's upcoming LaLiga match against Girona on October 18 and the Champions League group-stage game against Olympiacos on October 21. His availability for the Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26 remains in serious doubt.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said Olmo arrived at national team camp showing signs of muscle fatigue. Despite training throughout the week, he reported discomfort in his left leg and played only a brief part in Friday's session before being sent back to Catalunia for further evaluation.

Olmo has made 10 appearances for the Blaugrana so far this season, scoring once and providing two assists. Since joining from RB Leipzig in August 2024 for around 65 million euros, he has struggled with recurring injuries, missing 20 matches last season despite registering 12 goals in 39 games.

Barcelona's injury list also includes forward Ferran Torres, who returned early from Spain duty due to muscular discomfort in his left hamstring. Both the RFEF and Barcelona confirmed that Torres has not suffered any structural damage and is expected to be available for selection soon.

Teenager Lamine Yamal and midfielder Fermín Lopez returned to training this week after recovering from groin injuries. Yamal had missed Barcelona's recent match against Sevilla and was withdrawn from Spain's squad earlier this month. Lopez had been out for four games.

Barcelona are currently preparing for a busy stretch of fixtures, with the Clasico marking a critical point in the league campaign. Real Madrid are top of the LaLiga standings, with Barca looking to close the gap.
