The only goal was scored by England international Eberechi Eze, who found the back of the net after 16 minutes of the contest.
The first big chance of the match fell to Man City forward Erling Haaland, who was found at the back post by a delicious Kevin De Bruyne cross, forcing goalkeeper Dean Henderson to parry it behind for a corner.
Josko Gvardiol was next to test Henderson, directing a powerful header on target from a corner. It was a decent save but one he is expected to make.
Even though they were pinned back, it was Palace who who took the lead when from a counter-attack Jean-Philippe Mateta found Daniel Munoz galloping on the overlap, and his cross to Eze was perfect and the England man volleyed it in.
City had a great chance to equalise just after the half-hour when Tyrick Mitchell fouled Tyrick Mitchell in the box and a penalty was awarded.
Haaland held the ball but was just a red herring â- a bit of mind games before handing it to Marmoush, whose spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Henderson.
Henderson made another incredible stop to deny Jeremy Doku as Palace held onto the lead going into the halftime break.
After initially weathering the storm early after the interval while De Bruyne was starting to make things tick for City as they serached for way back into the contest.
Ten minutes were added on but City could not find an equaliser and Palace finally broke their drought and captured a first major trophy, and they will play in Europe next season.
