Crystal Palace sign Nigeria forward Christantus Uche on deadline day

Crystal Palace have secured the services of Nigeria forward Christantus Uche on loan from Getafe until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Uche has already featured three times in LaLiga this season, scoring once and providing one assist in the first game of the 2025/26 campaign against Celta Vigo, before completing his late switch to Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old is touted as a replacement for attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze following the latter's move to join Arsenal last week.

The Super Eagles attacker had initially been in advanced talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers before the move collapsed and was also linked with Aston Villa and Sunderland.

Uche initially joined Getafe as a central defender but was moved into midfield before featuring more recently as a striker in Spain.  His arrival will add versatility to Oliver Glasner's Palace squad, which will also be attempting to defend their FA Cup title.

He is set to rejoin his new Premier League club after participating in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Nigeria against Rwanda and South Africa.
