Confirmed: Richards Bay sending back Kaizer Chiefs loanee

Richards Bay FC chairman Jomo Biyela has confirmed to SABC Sport that midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane will return to his parent club Kaizer Chiefs now that the season is over.

The 30-year-old was sent on loan to the KwaZulu-Natal outfit in February after falling out of favour and the hope was that he would get regular game time away from Naturena for the rest of the campaign.

But that was hardly the case as Mdantsane only managed two appearances for The Natal Rich Boys, who were battling relegation for much of the season until a strong finish saw them clinch a top eight spot.

Chiefs on the other hand ended outside the MTN8 bracket under coach Nasreddine Nabi, but it remains to be seen whether both Mdantsane and the Tunisian mentor will be at Amakhosi next season.

What has been confirmed, however, is that the former Cape Town City talisman is leaving Richards Bay.

“I won’t say no if my technical team wants to keep him, but as things stand right now I can tell you that all loan players – including Mdantsane – are going back to their clubs at the end of the season,” Biyela explained.

The fact that he only featured in two matches out of 15 in the second half of the campaign suggests coaches Ronnie Gabriel and Papi Zothwane did not see Mdantsane in their plans.

He remains contracted to Chiefs until June 2026, but with his loan spell a setback rather than progress it’s clear Mdantsane faces a bleak future as the Soweto giants look to overhaul the squad yet again.
