Daniels helped ABC Motsepe League side Hope FC gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after they beat North West University 5-3 on penalties in the National Championship in Mthatha yesterday.
The 41-year-old believes their victory and promotion will go a long way in inspiring youngsters who were on the verge of giving up.
"Yeah, I always wanted to leave a legacy behind for the young boys in Cape Town. I know a lot of players who, once they reach 18 and there's no club that wants them, they don't play football anymore," said Daniels.
"It's so difficult for them to come to the professional ranks because there's only one or two teams in Cape Town, so the hope to create the next level for them is being taken away.
"And that's my drive as a players, as a coach, to create that next opportunity for the youth."
'Hare' revealed that, although he started the season as assistant coach to Dylan Deane, he was asked to get himself ready to strap up in the second half of the season to inject some experience on the field.
"Yeah, definitely, towards the end of the season, the coach asked me to be fit and ready to play," he shared.
"And I was his assistant coach throughout the season, but in the last seven games when the pressure really came for us to get over the line, he told me to get ready because I'm going to need you.
"And I got ready, and as you can see today, I played a huge role in the game and also leading up to the playoffs – I played in the [Western Cape] stream final, and that link was always there between us.
"We work well together, with my playing experience and his coaching experience, and I think it's a good combination for us."
